East & West
A novel of Byzantium
Just reading 'Vanished Kingdoms' by the historian Norman Davies. All about the European states that have disappeared, including a brief vignette on Byzantium. Superb. Have finished the sections on Alt Clud (the old Welsh kingdom of Strathclyde - apparently Ayrshire farmers were counting in Welsh until quite recently) and the Visigoths in Toulouse.
East & West is now live!
published today on Amazon. We're still fiddling with the price, which should be £2.99, but it's up there. We'll be publishing it on other platforms, including Apple, in the next few days.

East & West - Catharsis
I'm going to be commenting here not just about my book, and responding to questions about John Lascaris and his adventures, but also writing about Byzantium generally. This isn't the place for long historical diatribes, but if I spot interesting photos, or news stories, or discoveries about the I'll alert you to them here. I'll also be putting up links to good websites with a Byzantine or late Roman theme on this blog.
In the meantime I'm busy getting the book published and available to buy or sample. When it's all ready, I'll be back!
